Mollie Hemingway: The Ten Stupidest Things About Ann Telnaes' Obnoxious and Borderline Racist Cartoon
I didn't know there were ten stupid things -- in fact, there are.
No padding on this list either. All of these things are legitimately objectionable and stupid.
Hemingway wonders how "ignorant" Telnaes is to not know that the use of children in campaign commercials is not rare at all -- in fact, every politician with kids uses their kids in an ad.
This ran on the very day Ann Telnaes scribbled out her bad, racist doodle:
She imagines she's "of the elite."
Stupid people tend to think that. It's called the Dunning-Krueger effect -- the more limited one is intellect and ability, the more one thinks one is at the top of the cognitive pile -- the more one doesn't know what one doesn't know, the more one imagines she knows all there is to know.
Ann Telnaes knows just a few things -- that abortion is good and Christians are bad, that Planned Parenthood is a hero and Ted Cruz's preschooler daughters are villains.
As is usually the case, stupidity and ignorance, cruelty and evil run together like dogs.
Update: thanks to bitmaelstrom -- I meant Dunning-Krueger, not Kubler-Ross (the stages of grief).
Oh, and Ted Cruz put out his own doodle:
