Report: Police Find Ambulance Loaded With Explosives Outside German Soccer Stadium?
Update: No Explosives Found
A little caution here -- the game has definitely been cancelled, and police are searching for bombs. But Shep Smith says Fox can't confirm the part that explosives were found.
This Daily News report claims explosives were found, though. I don't know if the Daily News has better sources, or is just less responsible.
Police found an ambulance filled with explosives outside a canceled soccer match in Hannover, Germany, immediately invoking fears of another terror attack like last week's massacre in Paris, according to local reports.
Authorities also cleared the TUI-Arena, with a performance planned by German band Söhne Mannheims, but did not say if there was a serious threat there.
But police then ushered everyone outside, and later called off the game.
"There were serious plans to bring something to explode," police chief Volker Kluwe told reporters.
See? That part suggests there were not bombs found, just a "plan" for such.
This AP article will only say it was a "suspicious object."
The article the Daily News cites is here, in German. If someone wants to translate, coolio.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was in attendance at the game -- which seems very reminiscent of the Paris attacks, where Hollande was present.
Update: While most seem to agreed this was a "major threat" and that there was a "plan" to bring in an explosion, it is not multiply confirmed that there were in fact no explosives found.
