Carly Fiorina Spars With the "Lemons" of The View
Part 1 here. The "comediennes" did what I imagined they would, which is to claim that while Donald Trump can't say something about Fiorina's face, they can, because they're "comediennes."
I knew they were going to do this. It's the stupidest cop-out in the world. People love setting one loose, permissive rule for themselves, and another strict rule for others.
I used to use this excuse myself, when I wanted to sound off self-righteously about an Ann Coulter crack, or some other joke. People would say "You say worse than that dude," and I'd glibly say "I'm just a blogger, and a comic-leaning one, but the person I'm self-righteously criticizing is Important and should behave with more Decorum."
It's bullshit. Total bullshit. If it's acceptable for me (or anyone else) to have an irreverent sense of humor, it's acceptable for presidential candidates and more famous pundits.
People are allowed to have a personality. It's stupid to claim that Trump isn't allowed to have a bit of mean fun about someone, but that Joy Behar is so important that she must be allowed her Comedic First Amendment Rights and that to restrain her in expressing them would do harm to this nation's fabric.
Nope -- either they both can, or neither can.
The discussion then gets into whether Planned Parenthood is harvesting baby parts -- which it is, of course. Whoopie Goldberg, the idiot, swears up and down it isn't, and you can tell she speaks the truth because she uses the black idiom to say so ("no, baby girl, that's not true").
Part 2 is here.
