Rush Drummer Neil Peart: It's Obvious Rand Paul "Hates Brown People and Women;" There's No Place for a Sensitive Thinker Like Him Except the Democratic Party
That last bit regarding Peart's claimed "libertarianism" -- he says that libertarians such of himself are of course compelled to be members of the statist, collective, fanatically tribalist Democrat Party.
What does this mean about Rush's music? Not a damn thing. Those who hated them before will have a new reason to hate them, but that hatred will just be overdetermined (that is, there is a superinventory of reasons to hate them, any of which is sufficient to justify the hate, ergo, the addition of any new reason is superfluous).
For those who like Rush -- which, I'm surprised to say, now includes me (I recently decided to put away my childhood, identity-building hatred of Rush in my steamer trunk of Childish Things and just admit I liked Spirit of Radio and Limelight and Distant Early Warning) -- the revelation that another aging boomer rocker of doubtful current cultural relevance thinks Teh Democrat Party is Awesome is as surprising as the next unwanted hair discovered growing from one's nostril.
No one likes those long nostril hairs, and no one likes finding out that aging boomer musicians are shallow and untutored thinkers, but it's a mundane sign of aging.
We mark the years by counting the elderly boomer rockers making asinine statements.
As the Fool* said to Lear: Thou shouldeth gotten wise, before thou got old.
* Or Cordelia. Somebody. If you care so much about Shakespeare why don't you look it up instead of riding my D about it?
