Will American Pharaoh Win the Triple Crown? Place Your Bets Here [Y-not]

Early betting on the Belmont Stakes has Triple Crown hopeful American Pharoah an even stronger favorite with the public than he is with the Belmont Park track handicapper. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner opens the morning as a 2-5 favorite at the ticket window after being established as a 3-5 favorite in the morning line.

That could be driven by real confidence that American Pharoah will become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978 on Saturday afternoon, by bettors who want a souvenir of the big day whether he becomes the 11th Triple Crown winner or the 14th consecutive hopeful to lose at the Belmont or perhaps by both.

By the way, in a tragic turn of events, a horse running in the undercard race had to be euthanized after breaking a bone during the race.
