In this modern age, we take for granted that the repository of human understanding lies at our fingertips 24/7. It's easy to forget that for most of human history, the transfer of knowledge was a slow and painful process, fraught with uncertainty, where the tiniest miscommunication could spell the death of some irreplaceable tidbit of wisdom, lost to the ages.

We can't let this happen to our culture's fart jokes.
