It's Time for All Conservatives to Affirm That They Will Not Support Any Candidate Who Supports Iowa's Unearned, Farcical Sense of Political-Judgment Supremacy

Dethrone the morons.

I do not know Liz Mair. I do not follow her on Twitter. I believe I met her once, like ten years ago, for about ten minutes. I am not sure of that. I have seen her on Bill Maher, and I frankly do not love her; she seems to be one of those Republicans who gets acceptance from liberals by being mostly pretty liberal.

But so what? She's a vendor, as Sean Davis notes, the same as the guy who prints up posters is a vendor. Her impact on policy is about on par with yours.

But Iowan Republicans felt disrespected that she had previously suggested they were "embarrassing themselves" in the past, and well now, Iowan Republicans won't stand for that!

And so they demanded a firing, egged on by once-useful institutions which continue to fall ever further into debasement.

So now the conservatively correct position on the acceptable limits of political speech is thus:

It is no big deal that OU fraternity members should sing a song which declares There'll never be a n*gger at SAE, you can hang them from a tree but there'll never be a n*gger at SAE, and black people should stop wigging out and accept that some people are going to say insulting things, but there is no general Right to Not Be Insulted, so black people need to Calm Down and start Growing Up.

Okay, fine, I pretty much agree with that. But... apparently it's the Conservatively Correct position that if a vendor disrespects Iowa Republicans by suggesting that they're not particularly savvy (they've picked the GOP nominee once in the past 30 years!) and seem over-concerned by their Corn Socialism, well then, that is an insult that we cannot permit to go unchallenged!

That kind of HateSpeech against Iowan Corn Socialists is not acceptable in this day and age. Didn't we fight a Civil War over this? Nay, anyone who disparages the political savviness of Iowans (who frankly seem like the biggest, most gullible dolts in the country, if we can speak frankly) must be fired, in order to Defend Everything Which Is Good and Right in America, like Socialism, and pretending that Iowans are Like Totally on the Ball.

Incredible. Incredible.

Anyway, this sort of Drama of Firings is for crude-minded dummies. Intelligent people talk about ideas; stupid people talk about people. We could have a discussion about whether or not Iowa deserves its first-in-the-nation status, or if the federal mandate to mix ethanol into gas is worthy. (Answers: No and no.)

But that's not exciting enough for Dumb People. Policy and ideas are not interesting to Dumb People. They know they should be interested in these things, but they're not.

So the way Dumb People pretend to be interested in policy and ideas is by demanding the firings of people who say things about policy and ideas they don't like. This turns a political discussion about ideas -- which is Boring to the Dummies -- into an exciting fast-paced reality-TV drama about Whether We're Gonna Get That Bitch.

When Does Liz Mair's Plane Land?

Intelligent people might discuss whether Iowa deserves to lead the nation, given that all they seem to care about is being flattered and showered with mandates and Heartland Socialism.

But intelligent people can't discuss these things, because the Dummies demand that Politics be turned into the Hector Mountain Dew Camacho version of politics, Rock N Roll Politics, with Loud Noises and Shouting and Drama and Firings.

Fuck Iowa, fuck the stupid, fuck Walker, fuck the GOP, fuck the weaklings who try to puff themselves up by doing nothing but inflicting cruelty on others.

An Argument That the Willfully Stupid Like: This is the argument favored by the Willfully Stupid. The people who say this are not necessarily actually stupid; but they resort to pretending to being stupider than they are, because they want to keep their double standards, and are willing to accept any argument, no matter how stupid, to justify a double standard.

The same way that militant blacks are both racist and angrily anti-racist, and when you call them on it, they say they can't be racist, because "Racism=Race+Power" and they have no power so they can't be racist.

They don't seem to realize that the average KKK member is on welfare and hasn't worked a steady job in 10 years and has no power or money or social connections and pretty much joined the KKK because no one else would have his loser ass.

So is he also not a racist, because he lacks power?

And if a group of blacks attack a white teenager, in what at least appears to be a race-motivated incident, as we saw a few days ago, are we claiming that the little boy who got knocked to the ground had the "power" in that situation?

Obviously this is a stupid slogan that has no truth in it, but racist blacks repeat it anyway, Because they want to keep their double-standard and they will latch on to any argument that seems to justify that double-standard as good and noble.

A lot of conservatives hate Purity Firings, until such moment as they themselves want a Purity Firing, in which case Purity Firings suddenly become Super-Good Because Reasons.

Here is the sort of argument usually offered. This argument is stupid and willfully avoids the question. See if you can spot where that happens.

I think I'm going to keep to my original analysis: She is a communications director, she did a great job of communicating her disdain for the same voters the campaign that hired her is trying to woo.

That's not a good thing and it will get you fired.

See, they always claim "We're not firing her over her statements (that's what Black People do), we're firing her over her competence."

Okay, what competence do you mean?

The competence you're saying she doesn't have is this: She should have known that if she expressed an opinion that you didn't like, you would freak out like the most brittle Social Justice Warrior, and you would just lose your shit and began throwing feces around the room like a monkey, and you would generally be unreasonable, irrational, and full of anger and sugar, and so she did not foresee that, so she should be fired.

Okay.

Notice though that the whole question of whether people should act in that manner is simply assumed. This is the very definition of question-begging, that is, assuming the answer to the question posed in the answer which supposedly answers that question.

Asked if people should continue spazzing out and demanding Firings if a statement -- even an insulting one, like the White Iowan equivalent of the word "nigger," which, it turns out, is the word "embarrassing" -- the answer comes thus:

Well yes these people should be fired because they should know better.

The "know better" elides over -- both contains and conceals -- the statement which is to be proven, but which is instead just assumed:

Yes, she should be fired, because of her incompetence in not comporting herself to the Reality of how vicious, stupid, and petty we are, that we would of course demand a firing of a nobody because we suffered Five Seconds of Agony over a something we read on the Internet.

You guys continue saying this. "Fire her, because she should know we're going to act like nasty thuggish imbeciles who then demand her firing."

Okay, but at any point, can we actually deal with the question you continue to not want to answer:

Why should someone demand a firing over so slight an insult?

All the people who Righteously Exhorted that the OU SAE brothers should suffer no consequences for singing about hanging n*ggers from trees?

I insist you explain yourselves now, if you are now taking the position that of course Walker should fire this woman for her anti-Iowan HateSpeech.
