Let's start with the Killer of Montrouge. Yesterday a man described as "North African" shot a cop.

Today, that same man has taken at least five hostages in a kosher grocery in the neighborhood porte de Vincennes, in the 12th arrondissement (north of the river, to the east).

At least two people are already killed. (Update: The Minister of the Interior denies this particular claim.)

There are at least five hostages in the kosher grocery attacked in porte de Vincennes, per a police source contacted by Le Figaro.fr, who indicated that the hostage-taker is the individual sought in the murders in Montrouge. "He is extremely dangerous," said the same source. "He is armed with two assault rifles."

Addressing the police who surround him, he had declared: "You well know who I am."

Obviously, the most important thing we must protect against right now is anti-Muslim backlash.
