Q1: How Should We Stop Obama's Executive Amnesty?
Q2: Why Should We Bother Stopping Obama's Executive Amnesty?
Allah considers the GOP's possible tools in stopping the executive amnesty.
One possibility is to simply not fund it. Remember, Obama will have to spend government money to issue IDs or Visas or whatnot. That money must be appropriated. The GOP can refuse to appropriate any money for this purpose.
I wonder, though, what happens when Obama threatens a government shutdown by vetoing a spending bill that doesn't include money for his executive amnesty. Mitch McConnell has already ruled out any shutdowns -- including, presumably, any shutdowns President Fuckwit might initiate himself.
The last shutdown was caused just as much by the Democrats as the Republicans, after all. It's not like Obama and the Democrats have to prove to the media that the Republicans are the responsible party.
But beyond that practical question, I have a larger one: Why bother?
What are we so afraid of?
As a practical matter, Obama is not deporting anyone at the moment. So we are currently in a period of temporary amnesty -- a politically unacknowledged period of temporary amnesty.
Obama currently is imposing a temporary amnesty without having to face up to the public over this policy.
Wouldn't it actually be better to make him -- and every Democrat who supports him, and refuses to vote in favor of Congressional attempts to undo the amnesty -- own their amnesty?
Obama can't actually legalize these people on his own. That would definitely require an act of Congress -- not even King Obama claims the power to simply dispense citizenship at his imperial whim.
All he can do is temporarily refuse to enforce the immigration laws.
Which he can do until January 2017.
And he's already doing that -- without catching the public heat for that, because the public doesn't know he's doing that.
Remember, his claim is that he's deporting more people than ever.
That's a lie, but the media transmits it eagerly for him.
An executive amnesty would undo all that good, useful lying. He would no longer be able to claim he's the Deporter in Chief.
So why not call this asshole's bluff?
There is no reason for the GOP to act in any kind of urgent way -- giving up things we don't need to give up -- to prevent an executive amnesty. One is already in place, and has been in place for years.
All Obama is threatening to do is to make his lawlessness a matter of public record, which he can no longer hide via the cover that the media provides to him.
Why should we work very hard at all to protect Obama and the Democrats from the wrath of the public?
