Semi-Retired President Takes Time Away From the Fairways to Offer a Statement on Ferguson
On Fox right now (livestream).
I'll fill in more later.
First of all, let me note I've stolen Allah's "semi-retired President" meme. I would like this to become a meme, and the only way that can happen is if people imitate it.
As for what the president said: he offered a very standard perfunctory statement, noting that the death of the young man in Ferguson was a "tragedy," and also that people shouldn't employ violence as part of their response.
He then appealed to his Media Constituency by noting the obvious, that the police shouldn't arrest journalists who are "just doing their jobs."
He further said that local police and officials have the primary responsibility for responding to situations like this, with the clear subtext of "I'm late for a 1 pm tee time."
He took no questions.
