Simon & Schuster Imprint Rebuffs Bergdahl Book Proposal, Explicitly Stating Her Fears that Republicans Will Use It Against Obama
Via Hot Air, which has more (including this editors' campaign donations -- you won't believe who she donates to), the Daily Caller breaks a story about the smug ruling clique that controls our culture.
Bergdahl's platoon mates proposed the book -- they planned to narrate their own stories and observations of Bergdahl, and would conclude, as you you'd guess they'd conclude, that he'd deliberately and of his own will deserted his post to go a-wanderin' in Taliban lands.
Well.
We can't have that.
But to this senior editor of Atria Books, which is a part of Simon and Schuster, what these soldiers have to say about Bergdahl isn’t as important as protecting Obama from criticism for swapping five Taliban leaders for Bergdahl.
"I'm not sure we can publish this book without the Right using it to their ends," Sarah Durand wrote in an e-mail to one of the soldier's agents, obtained by Yahoo! “[T]he Conservatives are all over Bergdahl and using it against Obama, and my concern is that this book will have to become a kind of 'Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.'"
Let me add an unrelated DC link which I've had open for a few days. John Oliver, the new jester for the progressive TV-obsessed court, troubled himself to note Obama's wavering and reluctance in ordering US soldiers into war:
“When he announced the airstrikes, the president was anxious to make two things clear," Oliver said on his HBO show "Last Week Tonight." "One, how this was the right thing to do, and two, how little he wanted to do it."
After showing a montage of newscasters commenting on how reluctant Obama sounded in his speech announcing airstrikes in Iraq, Oliver mocked: "Ah, yes, reluctance -- it's always been the best tone for leaders to use when inspiring troops before battle.”
More of the quote at the link.
Oh, and yet another #SmartTake from Vox, this one on repealing the 22nd Amendment, supposedly to give Obama his oomph back.
As if Obama wants a third term. The guy has been, as Allah calls him, "semi-retired" for almost all of his 2nd term.
He's basically Kramer.
