The throwaway line in Aliens that spawned decades of confusion. I always assumed when Hudson asked if it was a bug hunt, that it was like the article says, like a snipe hunt, a purposeless task. Looks like that thinking might be a bit off. Especially when you see the nose art on the UD-4 Cheyenne lander.

Bad Parenting

Why in the hell am I supposed to feel sorry for a single mom that locks her kids (a 6 month old and a 2 year old) in a hot car in Phoenix for an hour while sitting in a job interview? Of course, the county attorney has dropped all charges as long as she completes 25 hours of parenting classes. Um, she's 35 years old and thought it was A-OK to lock her kids in her car. During summer. In freakin' Arizona. No amount of training is gonna fix that thought process. She'll do something stupid again. Hopefully her kids won't suffer for it. As for a job, she's not exactly exhibiting sound judgement here.

Outbreaks

While there is a lot of talk about Ebola, there is an outbreak in the US that isn't quite getting the attention it deserves. Worst outbreak of measles in 20 years.

And then there is the whooping cough outbreak.

From January 1-June 16, 2014, 9,964 cases of pertussis have been reported to CDC by 50 states and Washington, D.C.; this represents a 24% increase compared with the same time period in 2013.

Supermoon vs Perseid Meteor Shower

If you want to try to catch the Perseid meteor shower, you might want to try tonight as the Supermoon coming on the 10th will make it harder to see.

Robotics

This robotic suit could come in handy carrying in the groceries. The prototype can only carry 66 lbs for 3 hours but it is planned to be able to carry 220 lb loads.
