Hamas Kills 2 Israeli Soldiers, Captures a Third, Just Ninety Minutes into the Ceasefire They Demanded
Ninety minutes.
They honored their ceasefire commitments for little bit more than three episodes of Friends.
The United Nations released a statement cautioning that they are not in a position to confirm either side’s claims. The statement was clear though that, if Israel's allegations were confirmed, "this would constitute a serious violation of the ceasefire in place since 8 a.m. this morning by Gazan militant factions which should be condemned in the strongest terms." White House Press Sec. Josh Earnest, issuing similar caveats about the need to independently confirm Israel's allegation, called Hama’s violation of the terms of this ceasefire "barbaric."

At Legal Insurrection: Diplomacy.
Hamas' Defense: Commenters say that Hamas is offering two different defenses -- first, that the Israelis started it.
This seems impossible, based on the facts. This was a sneak attack -- that's how they captured the one soldier. Israel can't have started an attack they were obviously surprised by.
The other claim is that this took place prior to the ceasefire. They claim at 7am. The ceasefire began at 8am.
