Mississippi Senate Seat: Why Worry? [Y-not]
The debate over the Mississippi Senate seat -- and over the broader of issue of when (if ever) it is acceptable to sit out a vote rather than voting for an unacceptable Republican -- reminds me of that old saying (attributed to the Irish):
Why worry?
There are only two things to worry about.
Either you are well or you are sick.
If you are well, there is nothing to worry about.
But if you are sick, there are two things to worry about.
Either you will get well, or you will die.
If you die, there are only two things to worry about.
Either you will go to heaven or hell.
If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about.
But if you go to hell, you'll be so busy shaking hands with old friends, you won't have time to worry.
'Seems to me, that's the fundamental issue here.
If I lived in Mississippi, I am pretty sure I would not vote for the Democrat in the general. But I'm also pretty sure I would not vote for Cochran.
If conservatives sit out that election, it will either not matter (except symbolically) or it will matter. If it does matter, perhaps the loss will cause the GOPe to rethink their strategy of going nuclear against conservative challengers in red states.
"I, I think your in-laws voters are commin' to pay you a visit, Squire Reince darlin'." (Yeah, yeah, it's in Russian. So sue me.)
Or maybe none of this matters and the 5,000 irregularities that McDaniel's campaign says have been found thus far will grow to 7,000, which is the margin of Cochran's victory. In any event, I sure am glad True the Vote is on the case.
See you in hell, morons!
