T-22 Hours and Change (gaming thread)

In 24 hours, we will be elbow deep in E3 press conferences. Plenty of options to watch them. IGN, GameSpot and Gametrailers will be streaming on their sites. And Twitch will be buffering through them. You can also watch the Microsoft and EA pressers on Spike TV. You can also watch the Microsoft and Sony pressers on the XB1/360 and PS3/PS4 on the respective consoles. And for something special, Sony is also streaming their press conference in about 40 or so movie theaters. There is also a bunch of pre-shows and after shows. Nintendo's Nintendo Direct is going up for streaming Noon Eastern on Tuesday.

Microsoft

Well, after an "interesting" launch, Microsoft is still looking to put the disastrous reveal behind themselves. If you want GAMES!!!, they made a good promotion with letting Phil Spencer step up (though I personally have doubts about the profitability aspect) to head the Xbox division. And though I'm not a fan of multiple SKUs, especially with one that makes them lose their USP, they made a good business decision with a Kinect-less box at $399. And though Spencer said tomorrow's conference is all about GAMES!! I expect them to touch on at least some of the TV shows that they're working on. If nothing else, they will talk about the Ridley Scott produced Halo movie and the TV aspects of Quantum Break. Which will lead up to a blow out at the San Diego Comic Con.
As for the actual games, Microsoft went a bit hog wild with announcing stuff in May. Now, Spencer has said that it's mostly stuff that they can't fit into their hour and a half show and it comes down on if you believe him or not. That being said, I think it's safe to say that we will still end up seeing stuff like Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 at the show. Other stuff we'll end up seeing is Season 2 of Killer Instinct, Below, D4, the Halo Collection (contains Halo 1 & 2 Anniversary editions and ports of Halo 3 and 4). Fable Legends is expected to be released early next year so that should make an appearance. Wouldn't be surprised to at least see an actual trailer for Halo 5 and maybe a very quick teaser for a new Gears of War. And for me as the most interesting wildcard is that Makoto Asada is going to be there. He already announced 3 projects a couple of weeks ago in Japan (Psycho-Pass game, remake of both Mystreet games and a shmup) and there has been chatter that he is working on another three games. He's never been in the States for an E3 so it could be interesting. And though I doubt it will be talked about at all, I just have a hankering feeling that someone in one of the videos will be wearing the Forteleza glasses prototype as a sly cameo.
And of course that doesn't include some multiplat games like how the new Call of Duty will be there with their marketing deal still in place. And what ever else will end up making an appearance.

Sony

Sony, they're gonna gloat, it's what they do. Personally I don't think a company that is living on borrowed time should ever gloat but once again, it's Sony, it's what they do. They'll talk about how they moved 8+ million units in 7 months and that 50% of all owners are members of PS+ (which is the ratio that MS found on the 360)

As for their conference, we don't know much about anything on what they will show and their lineup for the Holiday season is bare to say the least with only DriveClub and the The Last of Us HD remaster on the docket. I think it's safe to say that there is going to be a ton of indie games, it's the niche they're trying to carve out and it's working (though I still don't see this aspect actually selling consoles). And FROM/Sony's Project Beast (Demon Souls 2) is a shoe in as a good portion of the trailer has already been leaked. Guerrilla Games have stated that their new IP, a rumored fantasy RPG, will also make an appearance. And you would expect a big gameplay blowout of The Order 1886. And Project Morpheus will also be shown and I wouldn't be surprised that the real name is revealed and possibly a release period (Fall or Holiday season 2015).
As for multiplats, Destiny is going to be one of the main focuses on the conference. Personally, all of the footage that has been leaked looks, boring to say the least but co-marketing deal be damned, it's gonna get the heck shown out of it.
Sony has been quite leak free the last year and a half so it's a bit of a wildcard.

Nintendo

Nintendo is gonna Nintendo with an hour long Nintendo Direct. The Wii U has been stillborn and the 3DS has eroded to mobile. This is a year where they really nail it, to at least go down fighting. It's not really in their history to do so but they seriously need to do something otherwise Iwata is an even worse CEO than anyone thought.

Going by their financial call last month, they laid out their upcoming conference in mostly explicable context. They will show off their upcoming NFC toys which will help enhance some Wii U games (*cough*SuperSmashBrothers*cough*), they play it right and it should be a decent cash grab even if I'm holding out hope for a Pokemon Wii U game to use and abuse the system. Hyrule Warriors, the Dynasty Warriors in a Zelda skin, comes out in August in Japan and is expected to be one of their fall games in the west so that is a shoe-in. And that's just one of the Zelda games to be shown as it's pretty much guaranteed that the next entry in the The Legend of Zelda series will at least get a CG trailer. They're having a day long Super Smash Brothers fighting tourney after the Nintendo Direct so yeah, that's gonna be shown, both the 3DS and Wii U releases. Bayonetta 2 and X were also reported to be coming out as some of their big fall releases so those should be interesting in seeing. And it wouldn't be Nintendo if they weren't giving us our yearly Pokemon entries though this time it's remakes of Sapphire and Ruby in the Gold and Silver engine.

With it's supposed release next year, I am curious if they will start showing off their Quality of Life stuff. They still haven't talked about what they heck they're going with this.

Maybe we get lucky with appearances of that Pokemon Fighter from Namco or even better, the Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei mashup.

NEWS

Eh, E3 so there really wasn't any news other than a new Witcher 3 trailer

Stuff I've been playing

QuizRPG is a Puzzle & Dragons clone but it's got an interesting twist to it's fighting mechanics. It's all simple quiz based which has a surprisingly amount of Cold War questions. If you've played any of these games, you know what you're getting as it doesn't rock the boat any much more than that. It's interesting though.

Crimzon Clover World Ignition is Godly. I only have the 1 credit achievements left and it's so damn good. They took a great shmup and made it even better. How you can make one of the best stages in the genre (Stage 4) and make it even better is a mystery to me but they did it. Seriously, if you have $10 and have an inkling of liking the bullet hell genre, it's one of the best entries in a really long time (think the 360 release of Futari is a bit better). So gud

No new releases this week so this is it.
My Twitter so you can listen to me babble during the press conferences.

Last Second Zakn Addition

I bought this game because I hate myself. I do really like platformers though
