Obama To Speak On VA
Shinseki Resigns
Update: Obama says he's reluctantly accepting Shinseki's resignation. Also notes that the problems aren't limited to Phoenix.
Original Post:
11:15 eastern or whenever he feels like it.
He just wrapped up a meeting with Veterans Affairs Secratery Erick Shinseki so the betting is he's going to announce Shinseki's resignation.
A number of Democrats in Congress have called for the resignation, including Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth, a wounded vet who once worked for Shinseki.
I'm indifferent to whether or not Shinseki stays or goes. Yes, he's been grossly incompetent but on the other hand getting rid of him will enable Obama and the Democrats to say, "we've done something, give the new guy a chance to settle in and we'll see what happens". Then everyone will say "Mission Accomplished" and nothing will change.
