Gaming Thread
You know what is even more boring that watching people play EVE? Watching the yearly Alliance Tournament that kicked off yesterday. I would embed the stream but I fear of breaking the blog, so watch it here.
Other than that, another short week
News
The big news that came out of last weekend's EVO (other than that yeah, US still sucks at Street Fighter) was that Capcom is releasing a new version of Street Fighter 4 titled Ultra Street Fighter 4 early next year.
Because his last kickstarter was going to fail, American McGee went back to the drawing board and decided to try a short film kickstarter set in the Alice universe which will fail once again. Dude, just stop already
Well, it can't be any worse than the actual Episodes I-III and the Angry Birds games are a decent time waster
Yay, some actual ingame stuff from the upcoming Mad Max game. I like that they're going with Tom Hardy look instead of Mel Gibson. And frankly, I think it's a quite effective trailer
Minus the most important person of the group (Drew Karpyshyn), the part of Bioware who did Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect are on the road of creating a new universe while dashing my hopes of them one day getting back to making another Jade Empire game.
14 glorious minutes of Dragon's Crown gameplay
The Power of Elder Scrolls modders (still waiting for something like another Nehrim for Skyrim)

New Releases
King Ant, the people behind the Book of Unwritten Tales series comes in a different flavor with an art caper titled, The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief. As with point & click games, it's a PC/Mac affair
And the biggest release of the week is the return of the Shadowrun universe to videogames. Jordan Weisman (creator of the tabletop game) is leading the charge at Harebrained Schemes in bringing this game to the PC/Mac/Linux and tablet markets.
Random Stuff
So as the latest Steam closes, my damage has only been Doom 3 BFG (wish I remembered that it didn't include Master Doom), Trials Evolution Gold, Strike Suit Zero and Sword of the Stars: The Pit. Lite sale as has been the song these past few years. So what did everyone else buy?
Breach & Clear came out on the iPad (it's universal but impossible to play with the small realestate the iPhone/iPod) this past week. You could do worse for it's current price of $2 (goes up to $4 on Monday) but it really is just half of the game. There is currently only has 15 levels and tons of stuff "coming soon™". Would have liked the pre-planning stage being a bit more indepth instead of just picking the door which squad members to go through which door and how they go in. As for actual gameplay, it's very much like Frozen Synapse in that you plan out your squad's movements and hit play. If you love your gunporn, this game is a dream in all of the weapons, scopes, mods and gear all done in a very detailed 3D mapping. No real IAP so far outside of ingame currency (which are worthless) and two patches which is more about donating a $1 to Walter Reed Hospital (5% health) and/or Yellow Ribbon Fund (5% mobility)
That wraps it up,
The Dude
