Early morning tech weirdness the "intubed propellor" [Purp]
Back in the 1930's there was a lot of experimentation going on with aircraft design. One of the weirdest, at the time, that ever flew was the Stipa-Caproni monoplane. Today we'd recognize it as a ducted-fan type and predecessor to the jet engine.
Even though it look odd and was very short coupled, it was apparently quite stable in the air.
Luigi Stipa was thinking outside the box. Sometimes the box's walls are just illusions of the human mind rather than real physical constraint. It may pay to punch the wall occasionally just make sure you're not just imagining it.
