The Chair is Against the Wall- Gaming Thread! (Open Thread)

Afternoon my friends. Zakn here. I don't have a ton this week, so The Dude is bailing my ass out with tons of ~content~. You too can bail my ass out by sending me info on what you are up to in the world of gaming by sending me write ups to aoshqgaming at gmail dot com. None of you slackers beyond Dude have done it, so Thanks for Nothing!

Cheerleader below the fold...maybe.

The Walking Dead Game Episode 3 is out. I even bugged Ben to put it on the sidebar when it went on sale. If you didn't snag it, it's your loss. There's some really icky choices in this episode, and I'm curious to see how they impact the game as we move on.

Remember if you buy they game Season pass on XBLA or PSN, or the game on Steam you get all the episodes.

Hello, it's Dude again. A quick writeup before I get to the meat of this week's post

GOG.com brought back the criminally under-rated King of Dragon Pass for the low price of $5.99. It combines choose your own adventure and civ style 4x. Also on tap is a pre-order of Inquisitor finally coming out in english. Old school cRPG with loot whoring that has racked up a ton of awards when it came out in 09. They're also trying to get it through Steam's Greenlight process (I have hope but considering how long it took for something like Din's Curse to make it, I probably shouldn't). Anyways, GOG has it as a pre-order sale for $11.99 (down from $14.99) and it will be out on the 5th. Sadly we don't get an english version of their bad ass Collector's Edition :(

Which leads me into Steam's launch of their Greenlight process where they have indie pubs submit their games to the community and see if they can finally get their games on to the service. Tons of crap to be submitted for sure but there are some that really should not have to go through this. Like Oniken, Escape Goat, Gnomoria, The Oil Blue, Perpetuum, Project Zomboid and Project Giana really should not be up there. Of course, Valve shouldn't have rejected Oil Blue a few times themselves but that's a different story. I guess if nothing else, we should finally be able to see Pinball Arcade and Zen Pinball on the service after being rejected by Valve. Personally, I'm hoping for some VN but I have to admit to not holding my breath on that genre.

On the SC2 front, after the shitstorm, KeSPA and ESF has patched up and with kespa and esf are in each other's tourneys. Some really good names (though some interesting ommisons) that will step into the GOM Arena: fan favorite JaeDong and Rain getting Code S seedings and Trap, RoRo, Effort and Shy getting Code A seedings. Interesting in that Hero and Soulkey didn't get seeds after their showings in the Korean Nationals but the way they used SPL rankings, it makes sense. Some really interesting loses in the Starleague, I'm really surprised that the ones from GOM that people expected to do well ended up losing their first game (MarineKing and MVP). At least it's group play so their is a chance but it's still disappointing. DRG and Parting did well in their first appearance though.

Well, I started off to write a review for a horror game that I've been waiting for to hit Steam (it's been out since June) but it really is a hard game to review without spoiling anything on where the story goes on my play-through. Game play is almost non-existent as it's a really basic point&click stuff but the atmosphere and story is quite good. With the story changing every play-through based on what you do and what you choose in y/n questions, it's gives it the re-playability that is needed in such a short game (60-90 minutes). It's currently on a steam release sale till the 7th for $2.54 and I give it a thumbs up.

Guild Wars 2
Game has been out for just over a week and I've already been banned due to their incompetence. It's as if ArenaNet is doing everything in their power to kill the economy outside of anything other than forcing you to spend real money on gems and sell them for gold. Are you crafting items? Hopefully your getting bent over on not making any money back other wise it's an exploit due to them not thinking shit through and you will get banned over it. Found a vendor selling weapons for cheap? Well, don't buy them as you will get banned because they have no quality control. And that's not even starting with the other fuck ups on their part of just the simple basic shit not working. Good luck getting into a dungeon with it not bugging out and sending a few people in your group into a different instance. And speaking of dungeons, they're retardedly simple that would be cakewalks if there was direct healing leading you to mainly zerg bosses which they facilitate because they have way points right next to the fights where you can re-spawn at. Good luck with their main leveling concept, ie dynamic events not bugging out on you. The trading house has been up for maybe 10 hours out of a week because they thought it would be wise to have it website based. Their customer service is on a level that is lower than Steam's which I always thought was impossible. They've shut down their forums, so the only way to talk to them is through facebook or reddit. As streamer Krippa found out, they don't grasp the concept of privacy as they will post on reddit on if it was a temp or permaban before they email people. Security is a joke, sorry but just having email verification is laughable in this day and age. They have to keep resetting WvWvW because their matchmaker is borked. And for MMO's, GW2 has some of the worst white knights around. Now, this isn't my first rodeo when it comes to MMO launches as you always to expect at least the first month to be shit but the way that basic functions are so broken makes it one of the most hilarious I've personally been apart of. I guess if you can give them credit for anything, it has to be that at least the servers are always up (outside of maintenance).

This goes to long term viability of the Game
