Mugged By Reality: 2008's Crop of New Voters Aren't Eager To Vote in 2012
They're no longer stoked by Mr. Unprecedented. They lack bestokelment.
"Their relative disengagement represents a real threat to President Obama’s re-election campaign,” the pollsters wrote. “… We find consistent evidence that President Obama’s 2008 first-time voters are less supportive than other Obama voters, reflecting a decline in enthusiasm among a key voting bloc in the 2012 elections.”
They were promised love and Happily Ever After; what they got was twenty minutes of parasexual fumbling in the back of van bought at government auction and just a touch of Herpes. No wonder they have mixed feelings about that once-wonderful night. No one ever forgets their first time. Alas.
