An Open Letter to my MSM-enabling Friends [krakatoa]

To all who still watch, listen or read the MSM and insist there is no bias,

Who continue to support them via donating to "Public" broadcasting or purchasing subscriptions,

Who fatuously spout the vile rhetoric the MSM and their ideological brethren feeds you in regards to,

The Tea Party
Sarah Palin
The 2nd Amendment
The Constitution & Bill of Rights in general
Illegal Immigration
Racism in America
Islam as a "Religion of Peace" vis-a-vis the supposed creeping fundamentalism of Christianity and the various insidious plots of "the Jews"
The need to reign in the "heated rhetoric" of just the Right side of the political spectrum
The narrowly targeted definition of "heated rhetoric" or "hate speech"
Every atrocity, every natural disaster, every drought or snowstorm an effect of the evil machinations of Conservatives such as I...

With all due respect, open your damned eyes...!

... and try reading for comprehension.

Do you not note the abject hypocrisy in calling for patience anytime an open Islamist goes on jihad pending "all the facts" which invariably lead to the self-serving and contorted conclusions that they were driven to murder by the intolerance of people like, um, me?

I am really getting tired of being called the bad guy. Every single bad outcome in this world has its blame laid at my feet, and while it is flattering to be considered so very nearly omnipotent, it is getting more than a little old and remains as far from the truth as it ever was.

Let me put you some frick'n knowledge here: All sorts of people engaged in all sorts of ideologies do all manner of horrible things, and they do them for a wide variety of reasons, most bad and even occasionally some good.

Pretending that you can compartmentalize all the woes in the world into one neat box of causation called "Republican/Conservative/Colonialist White Male bigotry" gives you the illusion of the power to easily deal with those problems.

It is a coping mechanism, one that almost everyone uses at one time or another when faced with a problem that seems beyond our ability to solve within our preferred idea of how the world works, and one that usually ends badly when the illusions of control are finally shattered. How badly depends on how invested one has become in the utilization of this mechanism.

Bluntly, the more you enable those who demonize roughly 50% of the country while ignoring the reality of the various woes we are blamed for, the further you paint yourselves into an ideological corner wherein the only solution you leave yourselves will be to agree to violently punish those who don't think like the gatekeepers of your information.

And if that happens, my friends, you will find many reasons to regret your decision to abdicate your thought & judgment to those in the media, in academia, and in politics who, in the pursuit of power, never let a crisis go to waste*. Assuming of course, that you survive the broader violence you will have bred in the vain attempt to deal with the real issues of the world in ways that don't offend your tender sensibilities.

It is your duty to speak out. Your duty to demand a fealty to truth, rather than to the fanciful outcome of "fairness" at all costs.

You are good people. You are my friends & family. We break bread, we live and love, we celebrate and we mourn together. If I am not so evil a person to be a part of your daily life, how is it my ideological cohort must be?

I understand that your view of the world gives you comfort. I am asking you to give up some of that comfort, and examine just what it is that the MSM and their ideological soul-mates demand of you.

This latest media frenzy is madness, and if we do not get serious about the many issues facing our country & the world at large, there will surely be hell to pay.

Is this a threat?

Not hardly.

It is a historical certainty.
