“A new CAT should not exit the primary site facility. Full portability comes after extensive burn-in. Some users never let the CAT unit autoexit the site. The advantages are longer unit life and fewer bugs. Contact with pirate CAT units may lead to unplanned BATCH iteration. Contact with untested CATs may lead to virus infection. If allowed to exit, some CAT units may try to port across a street. Fatal errors may happen. These errors are never recoverable. Such situations are not covered by warranties. If you decide to let your CAT out, it should have a READ_ME.TXT file with a system address and URL.”
More stupidity below the fold...
Extreme Ironing Update: The very lastest and most comprehensive information about this intoxicating sport can be found here. Hopefully one of these days the International Olympic Committee will see the light and add it to the Games (And it won't be a moment too soon if you ask me. Which you didn't). After all, they somehow managed to let synchronized swimming into the mix.
I'm also personally advocating that the following sports be considered: Extreme Vacuuming, Extreme Quilting and Extreme Macrame.
For anyone unfamiliar with Extreme Ironing, here's a brief video which should 'splain things to you:
Tonight’s Required 15% Minimum “The Warriors” Content: A collection of all the deleted scenes. Which you’ll never see in a DVD release if Walter Hill has his way. Which so far he has. In a head-to-head competition, it's pretty hard to decide who's dicked around his fans more: Hill or Lucas. Lucas' "screw yous" are pretty well known but Hill gives him a run for the money. First off, he refuses to issue the theatrical version of the film, so instead all we get is the re-edited version with the idiotic cartoon sequences between scenes, because, y'know, that was his "artistic vision" all along.
Second, we'll probably never see a true Director's Cut version with all the deleted scenes (though he would argue that what's been issued IS the Director's Cut). Asshole. There's not a huge amount of deleted material but a couple of scenes really add to the movie IMHO. The opening scene on the boardwalk helps establish things a little more and the extended Cyrus speech adds a new dimension to things. Instead of it being just about gangs uniting to steal & take on the cops it contains more of a radical political element. Eh, whatever. Thanks for nothin' Walter.
*rant off*
(BTW, and not that you care, last year I secured a copy of the 1965 Sol Yurick novel that the film was loosely based on. And when I mean loosely I mean "very loosely." )
It's a pretty good read in its own way, but don't expect to see any Baseball Furies turn up in the book. It's kinda' depressing and filled with paranoia, not to mention extreme seediness and squalor of NYC in the mid-60s, when the city was truly starting to fall apart. And The Warriors don't exactly come off looking like heroes either. Far from it. It's hard to find since it's out of print but you can still find copies for sale online.
Now if I can just talk Monty into reviewing the thing on his Sunday Book Thread...
And now the soothing sounds of Jimmeh to wrap it up (figured I’d use a live version in order for it to be an apples to apples comparison with Steveh’s version. You can haz debate in the thread).
