Flashback: “Rethuglicans Accost Esteemed Journalist at Political Event.”
Every single word in that headline is a lie, including the word “at.” Well, maybe not that one, but the others are. But I figured I might as well post this little slice of delicious history since I brought up “Kenneth” in Friday’s ONT. I think Daley’s boys were on to something here. They too wanted to know “What’s the Frequency?” I would directly embed the vid but the embed code is disabled (this is a running theme tonight), so you may watch it here if you'd like.
Or you can watch a brief overview of events:
Ahhh...Old Left vs. New Left. So rich, creamy and satisfying. Dare I say...puddingly good?
The Continuing Destruction of the Nation Via Trial Lawyers and Uber-wussification:
"SEATTLE (AP) - A woman has sued American Airlines, saying she was traumatized when the plane she was on ran off the runway at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport."
"In the lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court, passenger Jewel Thomas said she has suffered severe mental and emotional problems because of the incident on Sept. 22, 2008. American Flight 268, a Boeing 757, was flying nonstop from Seattle to New York when it made an emergency landing at O'Hare, skidding onto the grass next to the runway."
"That day changed my whole life - it changed my whole world," Thomas said, adding: "This is one problem I can't solve."
Oh Good Lord sister. Don't you know that people actually pay good money for that kind of ride?
Which leads me to...
A Tour of Coney Island's Amusements:
See how I tied all that together? AND it also satisfies the required 15% "The Warriors" content mandated by the Big Guy (since they were based in Coney). Takes talent to do that, which is why I'm a highly-paid/abused co-blogger and you aren't. And you should really consider yourself lucky on that account.
Sadly, it appears that Astroland is about to vanish due to redevelopment. Never been there, but I always thought the idea of an amusement park and a bunch of attractions set in the middle of a neighborhood was really appealing. Plus it's really gritty and dangerous (or at least it was in the '70s and '80s), unlike your typical sterile and generic amusement park these days. Hell, from what I've read, just getting from the subway stop to the park itself was the most "thrilling" part of the experience. Here's yer Coney tour:
Tonight’s ONT is brought to you by Marvin the Robot:
NOTE: There's a better, more complete version of Marvin moments here, but for whatever the reason, the fucker who posted it disabled the embed code.
