The state of ClimateGate today, Feb 10 2010. [krakatoa](A series of daily-ish roundups of the day's Climate news and commentary.) This is by no means a comprehensive recap. The stories come from a variety of sources, and I highly recommend exploring the linked sites for more breaking news. It's been a long time since I posted anything -- work has been brutal this year, and frankly I got a bit burned out on posting just climate stuff. Let's face it: researching climate news cuts pretty deeply into my life's work of cataloging all the pr0n on the internet.
More snow in D.C. cripples traffic and hopes for a Climate bill. After record snowfall, and more predicted to possibly break the 111 year old record, politicians have contrasting reactions. Jim DeMint tweets: It's going to keep snowing in DC until Al Gore cries “uncle.” Don't hold your breath Senator. Manbearpig doesn't cry. He wheezes, moans, whines and sweats, but he only cries during sex. Democratic senators say a bill that was once a top priority for the party and for President Barack Obama cannot be dug up again during 2010. One, Sen Bingaman (D-N.M.) whined: “It makes it more challenging for folks not taking time to review the scientific arguments... People see the world around them and they extrapolate. I couldn't agree more, Senator. I mean, taking empirical data and using it to make predictions and test theories? Witchcraft I say! Read it all. Lots of choice quotes. It's just one huge slick bowl of 98.6 degree pudding. John Kerry's quote is perhaps the funniest thing I've read since Rich Giamboni's side-splitting book Take Back What You Said About Kevin McHale Or I Will Take a Shit in Your Jeep. It's getting so that you just start to wonder, have the Climate Alarmists gotten anything right? Alaskan glacier melt: Overestimated. Australian drought cause/effect: Reversed NOAA's sense of hypocrisy? Absent. Obstinately so. NOAA's new website states: The people who have been focusing on the ‘cooling’ have not been telling the whole truth. And then proceeds to trim all the The disgraced man at the center of ClimateGate, Phil Jones, reportedly has considered suicide. Upset over stinging emails he has received, and apparently as oblivious to Irony as he is to the Scientific Method, Jones laments: I wish people would read my scientific papers rather than my emails. Call me crazy Docca Jones, but if you'd shared your scientific data up front instead of illegally refusing to honor the initial FOIA requests, you could have saved yourself from a lot of disgrace, and perhaps saved the world's economies billions in wasted dollars. Let's face it, you are the big boy on the block. You had the power and influence of the U.N. and you claim to have been bullied by a few retired weathermen & statisticians. You've got the hat and the whip and the adoration of the elite, while we "deniers" have had to work twice as hard to get a fraction of the attention. In the words of Short Round: I very little. You cheat very big! BBC polls don't offer much hope for the AGW ponzii scheme. Of the 41% of people who then said the cause of climate change was “well established,” more than 1 in 4 have switched sides. While Ace may have missed his prediction re. Obama being swamped by a preference cascade, the AGW fraud doesn't enjoy the protective mantle of finely creased trousers, nor does it have a bus with a high enough clearance for the likes of Al Gore. The public in UK and the EU in general, and in Australia, appear to be on the cusp of a cascade towards healthy skepticism when it comes to lining the pockets of AGW snake-oil salesmen. It is only a matter of time before the US public follows suit. With GIStemp & GHCN facing losing all their climate credibility due to improper site conditions and the overt manipulation of data, excluding cooler sites and oversampling warmer ones, the AGW movement in America is likely gasping its last desperate breaths. Another study is out finding a causal relationship between the Sun and our climate, while also suggesting 2-3 decades of cooling temperatures. High fuel bills and greater demand on a rickety energy infrastructure are staring us in the face. The public is going to be pretty pissed-off when they begin to realize they've been had; that billions of dollars were blown on a neo-Luddite scheme to tax cow-farts and plant food; that decades were frittered away when clean nuclear power could have been brought online, and new sources of fossil fuels could have been exploited. Chiefio explains why bigger is better, always. It's heavy in numbers and graphs. Bottom line: GISS sets its baseline from a smaller sample (from 1951 to 1980) resulting in alarming warming. Chiefio uses a larger sample (1880-2009), showing very different results. The latest study on cosmic rays & cloud cover disses CO2. Abstract: The existing understanding of interglacial periods is that they are initiated by Milankovitch cycles enhanced by rising atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations. During interglacials, global temperature is also believed to be primarily controlled by carbon dioxide concentrations, modulated by internal processes such as the Pacific Decadal Oscillation and the North Atlantic Oscillation. Recent work challenges the fundamental basis of these conceptions. PDF. | Access Comments | Recent Comments
