MTV - The first 10 minutes
On August 1, 1981, at 12:01 am MTV: Music Television launched with the words "Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll". And despite just being available to a few thousand NJ cable subscribers history was made. Only a few years later a musician's MTV video could make or break their career. For a case in point see this video.

So for your enjoyment here are the first ten minutes of the MTV era.

And now almost 30 years later they've just dropped 'Music Television' from their logo reflecting the fact that over the last decade they've pretty much become a youth reality show network.
