NJ Democratic Boss With Ties To Governor Corzine Convicted On Corruption Charges

Nothing like having a crony convicted in federal court less than two weeks before election day.

>Prosecutors had argued that (Joseph) Ferriero and Dennis Oury, who was borough attorney for Bergenfield, had conspired to defraud the town by hiding their co-ownership of a consulting business. The consulting firm had sought contracts from towns in the county.

Ferriero was head of the county's Democratic organization from 1998 to 2008; Oury was borough attorney for Bergenfield.

Jim Geraghty reports that over the years Corzine has given contributions to Ferriero of close to half a million dollars.

Chis Christie, the Republican challenger and former US Attorney jumped all over this.

"He was enabled for large portion of what he did by Jon Corzine and his bankroll. He bears some responsibility. His own running mate [Lieutenant Gubernatorial candidate Loretta Weinberg] accused Joe Ferrerio of being a political boss standing in the way of reform. But continued for his own selfish political purposes. I'm not saying governor had knowledge of him being a criminal - at least, I presume that's the case — but his money enabled Joe Ferrio to be a dictator up there - he ruled over not just the Bergen County Democratic Organization, but the Bergen County government. He should have listened to Loretta Weinberg years ago and closed his checkbook to Ferriero."

I imagine Corzine's response will be along the lines of, "Ferriero? Never heard of him. Look over there...a unicorn!"

If you are a Jersey moron, you have my condolences but more importantly you can help get out the vote to defeat this Obama supported SOB.

Christie had a big lead at one point but it's basically a dead heat at the moment.
