...to make sure the public knew about the tapes, and could see the media refusing to cover the story.

He -- very early on, before the mainstream media started to pick up on it, what did Al Franken know about this that CNN didn't know about this? On these videos you see truth.

Personally I think he really rolled out the videos like this to get two weeks of huge traffic for his new website ("best launch since Neil Armstrong," quipped Treacher), but if he wants to say it was also to get the media, I'll go along.

He did get the media. Whether initially intended or not.
