Information on Truthers Zinn, Lerner, and Jones Comes from "Hate Sites"?

It's not exactly fair to set this up this way, as CJ's post came before mine.

Let's talk about getting information on Truthers from "hate sites."

There’s no need to lie about my position, Ace. I am not “supporting” or “defending” Van Jones, and I’ve made that extremely clear. I’m defending the apparently out-of-fashion concept that accusations like this should be based on credible sources, and not Truther sites and hate sites.

So, is the information about Michael Lerner, pressed into service as an alibi witness for Van Jones, coming from a "hate site"?

There’s considerable debate over whether loony left anti-Israel Tikkun leader Michael Lerner can legitimately be termed a rabbi. But I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and call him “Rabbi.”

Rabbi Michael Lerner, the longtime activist and editor of Tikkun magazine, has published an essay saying he is open to the possibility that the American government may have been behind the September 11 terrorist attacks.

“I would not be surprised to learn that some branch of our government conspired either actively to promote or passively to allow the attack on 9/11,” Lerner wrote in an essay published in the new book, “9/11 and American Empire: Christians, Jews, and Muslims Speak Out.” Lerner added that he would also not be surprised if it turned out that the attacks were not the result of a government conspiracy.

“I am agnostic on the question of what happened on 9/11,” he wrote in his essay for the book, which includes articles by other contributors arguing that a government conspiracy was behind the September 11 attacks. “As other authors in this collection have shown, there are huge holes in the official story and contradictions that suggest that we do not know the whole story.”

Which Truther site or "hate site" did that come from? Which "hate site" referred to alibi witness Michael Lerner as a "Rabbi Truther"?

AHFF Geoff wrote me to say "Stop focusing on Johnson and focus on Jones."

But I am. This meme, if allowed to take root, will save Jones. The media of course wishes to spare Jones. They're not interested in covering the story. If they do cover the story, they will report the claimed "context" that "others say they were lied to by 911Truth.org, so there is some evidence that Jones is being honest when he says he didn't know what the petition said."

I understand why the in-the-tank media wants to push this claim.

I do not understand why Charles Johnson would want to push it, given his visceral hatred of such conspiracy nuts, and especially given that it relies upon the testimony of three Truthers, and he is the author of what I shall begin calling the Charles Johnson Axiom: Truthers lie.

Few, I'm sure, have missed the irony here, but among them seems to be Charles Johnson himself, so I'll explain why I keep quoting that: He is using the Charles Johnson Axiom "Truthers lie" to establish the veracity of Van Jones, who is himself, in fact, a Truther.

And quoting, as credible, two other Truthers, Zinn and Lerner, in support of Truther Jones' claim.

How that logic works I don't quite get but there you go.

Perhaps the Charles Johnson Axiom needs to be modified: Truthers lie, but sometimes Truthers tell the truth, and only Charles Johnson is capable of telling you which is which.

This isn't personal. CJ has never done anything wrong by me.

But he himself makes a very big issue of intellectual honesty and integrity and scientific type thinking.

Well, CJ, you're not the only one. Sometimes I get the feeling you think you are, but you're not.

And I consider it my duty to rubbish this thoroughly faith-based defense, a silly conspiracy theory of Truthers deceived into supporting Trutherism, a goofy evidence-free theory sustained entirely by magical thinking and illogic.

Well, let me caution Charles Johnson about something, since he is clearly on such a jihad against what he perceives as religious-based or religion-influenced thinking.

As my friend once observed:

You can have a religion that doesn't have a God.

You cannot, however, construct a religion that doesn't include a Devil.

Think about it, CJ. Who's faith-based here? Who's letting a bit of cultism infect their logic?

It ain't me.

Just because His Satanic Majesty Glenn Beck says it, and it's echoed by his demoniacal consort Michelle Malkin, doesn't mean it's untrue.

The Prince of Lies mixes truth with lies, remember, so his lies gain credibility.

More: After writing a post claiming that he can't find any evidence linking Jones to Trutherism, and furthermore repeating the lie, from Truthers (Truthers lie, remember) that Zinn and Lehrer were "lied to" about the petition's contents, and the "conspiratorial ravings" added later -- apparently LGF has great functionality, but CJ can't search his own archives -- CJ comments:

As I said, his Dan Rather moment. The proof is piling up against his daffy claims, but he'll just ignore these "partisan internet bloggers" so maligning him. And he'll keep that evidence from his audience by refusing to acknowledge it.

After all, he's a Hard News Man. He knows better than these partisan political bloggers. He especially knows which information to reveal, and which to suppress, in order to protect his audience from drawing faulty conclusions.

They, after all, require his judgment and expertise to guide them. They need him hiding stuff from them.

He's The Decider, you know.

How on earth CJ can continue insisting that Truthers Zinn and Lehrer are solid witnesses for the defense, especially given the Charles Johnson Axiom "Truthers Lie," is beyond me.

Incidentally, I don't need your link, CJ. The cat's out of the bag and your readers are checking me out on their own to get the side of the story that you won't reveal.

You're not the MSM yet, buddy. Embargoing is not at all effective for you.
