Moderate Congressional Democrats have followed Obama into the breach on several unpopular and dangerous votes, most importantly the Spendulus and the Cap and Tax. Surely by now they understand that Obama's policies have not spurred a recovery, and may have stalled one. Either way, there is unlikely to be good economic news by November of next year to offset their votes against constituent wishes.
And there almost certainly won't be any sort of political benefit to marching in lockstep with an increasingly unpopular president, and one now widely acknowledged as being far tot the left of the American center.
Still, that doesn't mean they won't vote Obama's way. They are faced by a no-win situation. They can either anger their passionate leftist voter base (and donor base), or anger the center. They can't afford to do either. So, facing that, they might just decide to plunge the nation into socialism, figuring, who knows, government bureaucracy will be a growth industry for the next fifty years so they should be all set even if voted out of office.
Here's a cowbell-filled song for Barack "Low Rider" Obama.
