Obama Falsely Claiming to Be First Again

Gosh, this guy just can't get over himself. He has got to think of himself as the "first" to make all these "historic" decisions...which have all been done before. His latest boast is that he's the first president to appoint an out "LGBT" person to a Senate-confirmable position in his first 100 days.

Except, of course, for President Clinton (also the first black president!) who did it over 16 years ago by appointing out lesbian Roberta Achtenberg to be Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity in his first 100 days. (That appointment, by the way, was held up by Jesse Helms who didn't want to vote for "that damn lesbian." Yes, in my lifetime it was suggested that gay people couldn't be trusted to waste taxpayer money in federal bureaucracies as well as straight people.)

Obama has been nosediving in the gay community lately, which feels betrayed because he's failed to follow through on any of the promises he made them. And now, as Ace posted earlier, Darth Cheney has them all conflicted (although this isn't really a position change for him).
