How Tyranny Comes to Rescue Us »

Keeping 'Em Honest (tmi3rd)
Michael Barone has a post up that references exactly some of the discussions we've been having lately- namely, that just because the Left is screwing up doesn't mean that our current attempts at representation from the Right are that much better.
As has been mentioned in our previous chair-throwing bar fights, we still have too many wannabe Congresscritters who think that they can spend government money to buy votes. Though that is a tried-and-true technique (that alliteration comes free of charge), that obviously isn't going to get it done under current circumstances.
My question to those of you commenting is, how do we get trustworthy folks into office who want to be there, but at the same time, decrease people's dependency (and therefore trust) on/in their government?
Anyone who's going to run for office has a vested interest in increasing their power and income- is anyone out there who is really going to move an agenda forward that restricts the size and scope of things?
...takes moment to pat himself on back for not writing a damn War-and-Peace-length post...
