Whoo-Hoo! Sex and the City 2 Greenlighted
This gives you all 12-18 months to divorce your wives and ditch your girlfriends.
Can anyone explain to me why women are positively obsessed with pay-cable and/or edgy free cable tv series? Every woman I know cannot get enough Weeds, Entourage, Big Love, Mad Men, Dexter, The Wire etc. If it's on HBO or ShowTime, they must watch it.
I don't get it. I've tried to watch them a bit but they're just sorta soap operas with frequent shock content. Production values are higher on these shows than on most network shows, I grant, but is that a huge selling point? Does the occasional shot of a penis or Cinemax-at-Night-level simulated sex so transform a soap opera into something elevated?
I'm not saying these shows are bad, necessarily. Frankly I haven't seen most of them. I just don't understand the compulsiveness about them. The only way I see it making sense is that if this is women's water-cooler talk stuff, and that they're largely watching just so they can take part in all the conversations about them.
I guess it's good that the cable networks have found a way to successfully broadcast for women. I just wish they'd think about ways to come up with shows that would similarly appeal to men.
