Dave in Garfield Ridge says of the very high turnout from the morning... It's old.
Just went to the polls. . . 3:30 pm in Arlington, VA, the bluest part of Virginia. No line whatsoever, so I guess all the early people got the worms today. For comparison, my wait around 4 pm in 2006 was about an hour, ditto in 2004.
The poll workers had five electronic voting machines as usual, but they were supplementing them with paper ballots to fight the expected crowds. My guess is that'll slow down vote counting tonight, so beware any early projections.
Finally-- the weather is kind of crappy, cold drizzle most of the afternoon up here. Doubt it'll affect turnout, but you never know.
Anyway. . . it's 4 pm, I'm home from work, I have my first beer open, and I'm going to play Fallout 3 on my Xbox until the polls close.
