Poll: Obama Badly Trailing Kerry with Seniors »

Jesus Was a PR Flack; the Holy Spirit was an Astroturfing Sockpuppeteer
I'm enjoying some of David Axelrod's flackwork:
Do you guys think the McCain camp's honesty problem is going to start hurting them? Two paid staffers for his campaign told me yesterday that they realize the ads are based on falsehoods, and to this Christian voter, that is a big problem.
To this agnostic non-voter, you're posting that directly from Obama HQ, or straight from coming from the DKos boards. (Which are after all just the virtual Obama HQ.)
Found at this comment at the 538 electoral projection blog.
I really want to start tracking these obvious astroturfed sockpuppet comments. And see where their IPs trace to.
Patterico had one the other day knocking Palin, from a "Wasilla Resident" whose IP, strangely enough, traced back to the suburbs just north of Chicago. So I guess Cameron from Ferris Beuller's Day Off spent some time in the nineties working in Alaska's oil fields?
Astroturfed Sockpuppet Thread? Maybe it would be funny to parody these comments.
"As a longtime supporter of both John McCain and Sarah Palin, I think it's disgusting that McCain would play the 'POW card' to explain away his utter unfamiliarity with Facebook."
More Robert! This comment-happy Christian just wants to get out "the facts."

Baptist, and at lunch after church today, everyone (except the 2 who really don't pay any attention and had no comments) agreed that it was pretty ridiculous what McCain was doing now, in light of his experience in 2000.
What McCain and Palin want us to believe and repeat really smacks of moral relativism. Truth is stubborn, and not usually that subject to interpretation, at least in the culture I inhabit.
...
Relativism explained: creating a whole alternate "reality" in which Palin is this principled anti-pork reformer, based on several datapoints that don't pass any standard of honesty.

I will say, Palin is going to make a huge difference in McCain's ground game. While a lot of us Christians are not this way, this is the Republican equivalent of Dem's identity politics. (and yes, there are tons of single issue voters in this crowd, who now believe McCain is pro-life). I think the only thing that could shake that base is evidence to the contrary on the pro-life issue for McCain and Palin coming out. That would unshake things up. However, this honesty thing is a real big deal for him as well. His recent ads have been disgusting.
...
In all honesty, you guys who seem to think I'm not serious. Buzz is rising on the honesty issue in one Baptist church (I can't really say beyond that; N=1). Maybe I'll call a few people back home in TX, see what they think.
I'm not trying to start a culture war on the forum, just relating something that seems like it might affect the half-life of the Palin bounce.
Wow! This Robert cat is really familiar with the talking points -- and strategic messaging needs -- of the Obama camp!
Maybe his ability to channel David Axelrod arises from his practice at speaking in tongues!
