Well, Now He Gets to Wear it On His Jersey: Chad Johnson Legally Changes His Name to Chad Ocho Cinco
Kind of funny, and I don't really want to knock on him for being free-spirited (I can knock on him for being a self-centered jerkweed, of course).
But the NFL is going to have to pass a rule. And they will. Otherwise lesser players will begin changing their names to Brian Kinney Shoes and Anfernee Grand Theft Auto V.
Thanks to someone.
I forget who said it... but I think it was Chris Collinsworth, himself a receiver. He offered the explanation why so many receivers are psychopathic and/or utterly selfish: Just the nature of the position. It doesn't rely on much teamwork so there's never that sense of, um, teamwork. And it's such an individual performance position that flakes and fruitcakes who could never survive the league in a team role can still hack it all by themselves split out wide in their own little world (as long as they're fast and have the brainpower to memorize a few dozen patterns).
Just always thought that was interesting. Not sure if it's really true that receivers are disproportionately assholish or, like the summer of shark attacks, I just always notice it now because I'm aways looking for it.
