AP: Hezbollah's Training Shiite Militias -- Inside Iraq
Just another awful fact, and further evidence (even if many pretend it's not so) that all of these wars are the same war against the same or very similar terrorists, all of whom assist each other against their ultimate enemies, the US and Israel (and Europe, too).
Liberals, preferring the minimum possible response the public will acquiesce to, would like to pretend that Hezballah is distinct from Hamas which is distinct from the terrorist regime of Iran which is distinct from the one enemy they're (barely) willing to confront, Al Qaeda proper.
The left will sing that this proves Iraq is a failure, but then -- name one Muslim country in which terrorists aren't being trained. They're being trained in America and Germany and Britain, too.
That's not to minimize this -- I think it's pretty serious. It is however to preemptively rebut the inevitable but-for argument from the left, "But for our invasion of Iraq, there would be no terrorists there." Right. Tell that to Abu Nidal, Hussein's guest of honor until he assassinated him just before the war, and tell that to the victims of Palestinian terrorism, whose murderers' families were paid $25,000 by Saddam Hussein as part of his Make A Wish charity for terrorist bombers.
