Ten Scenes of Movie Violence That Are Pretty Funny

Better than average Cracked list.

The top two below the fold.

First, the Kirk/Gorn fight from the Star Trek episode Arena. As a kid I was absolutely fascinated by this episode. Loved it.

Watching the big fight now, it seems... pretty hilarious. Have you ever seen people move so slowly?

The writer of the list notes that the Gorn seems to only react to being hit by the "boulder" a second after he hits, maybe after the director shouted, "You know, you just got hit by a boulder, you know. Can you sort of play that?"

And of course we get Kirk's patented hands-together space-karate punch, one of the most ineffectual looking maneuvers ever conceived. Yet he does this in about half of his fights.

And then number one is the entire movie of the Nicholas Cage remake of The Wicker Man, a movie I recommended and was called an idiot for doing so.

I still think the movie is okay, but this compilation of highlights is pretty funny. Nicholas Cage does nothing but beat the shit out of women -- he karate kicks Leelee Sobieski, for example, which seems like using a hammer to take out a mosquito -- and threaten children and, in a sequence I forgot about, cold-cocks an old woman while dressed... well, I won't spoil it.

I don't know. All that seemed to work in context.

Actually, I think it works out of context too. They should make a movie out of nothing but that and similar scenes and just call it Fucking Awesome.
