Spin, Spin, Spin: DKos and Joshua Michah Ezekiah Boutros-Boutros Marshall Whine That Rev. Wright's Comments Are No Biggie, Really

(doing that "W" with my fingers from Clueless)

We'll see if the American people agree. I'm not sure the general public's appetite for angry anti-American hate-whitey burn-this-fucker-down rhetoric is as robust as Mssrs. Marshall and KosKid imagine.

LGF, quoting a Kosmonaut:

Please let an old black man have his anger in the privacy of his church. After 400 years of what has been done to African-Americans, it is the least that we can do. Are our hearts so small and our need for reassurance so great that we cannot allow an old black man who dedicated his life to his community his anger?

Germans? Forget it, he's rolling:

Are you honestly going to tell me that this is the first time white America has seen and heard from black folks? Have we not heard what Rabbis routinely say about Palestinians across the US? Even our military is told to call Iraqis and Afghanis “ragheads” and “Ali Baba” as a part of their training. Have we not heard what predominantly white churches say about immigrants, African-Americans, LGBTQ communities, and Islam? Jerry Falwell gets a hero’s farewell, as does Reagan, who thought gay people deserved to die of AIDS, but Wright, he must be punished severely and publicly humiliated.

Excuse me-- what the fucking shit are you on about? Huh?

Josh Marshall, quoted by Powerline, asserts that there's little to nothing that Wright says "that doesn't come out of the sermon tradition of African-American Christianity with a 60s twist."

Anderson Cooper of CNN chimes in with this not-at-all-tainted-by-Obama-love assertion:

ANDERSON COOPER: Is this just the kind of thing that happens in campaigns? It seems we're almost at a point now where it's this or other issues for the Clinton campaign where people are just latching onto anything to strike a blow against their opponent. All this seems to have nothing to do with actual issues that the country is facing which these candidates should be talking about and we probably should be talking about.

...

It's also frustrating just from a news standpoint because on the one hand people are talking about it. It's clearly an issue that's bubbling up on the campaign trail, so we end up covering it. But at the same time it does feel just completely off track. And there have been other issues in this campaign which just felt completely off track from the real differences between these candidates, the real issues. It's frustrating that yet again we seem to be mired in this politics as usual.

Excuse me, and I don't mean this to be offensive to any of you fine gentlemen in the least, but when you smoked so much tainted rock as to fall into a crack-and-Comet coma and awoke with light to moderate mental retardation and also strange bruises resembling alien sex-probes all over your body for which you can simply not account, did a strange man in black walk into your hospital room and beat you back to stupid with a moron-bat and/or brain-fuck you with the crazy-stick?

Let me edify these good gentlemen as to why this is an issue, and a valid one.

Barack Obama has been sold to the American people as a race healer and not a race warrior.

He has been claimed to be a man who can bridge the differences between black and white, not as a reliable footsoldier in the army of the Angry Black People movement.

He has presented himself as someone who is beyond race, post-racial, and not as someone who recalls the Watts riots as kind of a good idea.

In short, he owes most of his cross-over appeal among white voters to the idea, apparently quite false, that he is not an angry, radical black nationalist sort whose idea of racial reconciliation consists of tumultuous political upheavals, all helping (arguably) blacks at the expense (inarguably) of whites, but of someone who doesn't really seek to do much on racial policy at all but who can simply "heal" our racial divisions just by being elected but otherwise being a nice guy who says inspirational crap but leaves Whitey alone.

The fact that he's been an enthusiastic member of a church headed by an angry Black Panther in a white collar unrepentantly spitting out 60s era hate-Whitey rhetoric rather belies Obama's appeal to those of us who wish black folks well but honestly would prefer to be left the fuck alone to live our lives in peace.

In short, Obama's tutelage by this "moral leader" makes us question if he isn't just an unreconstructed 60s radical with an affable manner and nice haircut.

So yes, guys, this is an issue, even though I realize you would strongly, strongly prefer it not to be.

Tough shit. I know you like presuming to decide for the American people what they are permitted to consider important, but I'm afraid you're quite outvoted here.

Context, Context! The MSM and the left thought it was quite relevant that Romney's Mormon church took anti-black positions... until the mid-seventies.

This angry moonbat off a cultist is cursing white devils up to last godamned week and we're not supposed to say anything?

The Mormon Church's former doctrine, corrected by 1974 or so, is important and germane to the race, but a very politically-oriented hate preacher to whom Obama is personally and politically close is off limits?

Thanks to EC for noting that.

Email: Captain Ed Hocken of Police Squad writes--

It's unbelievable the trash the media writes about! Here's Obama on top of the Queen between her legs and they call that news!

I know, Ed. I know. Pure sensationalistic drivel.

Predictably... but perhaps prudently, J-Mac says that a man is free to worship in his own hate church as he wishes.
