Democrats Get Tough On Illegals... By Punishing Them With Amnesty

See, they're not offering to make illegals legal -- nay, they're requiring them to be legal.

I would quote Kaus but the post is so short I'd be stealing the guts of it. It's worth a read, the rhetorical slight of hand that the Democrats are using. They're not offering amnesty-- that would be "weak on illegals."

Instead, they will get medieval on illegals by demanding illegals accept amnesty, damnit, even if they don't want it!

See how that works? They're not giving lawbreakers amnesty; they're busting out a can of Forcible Amnesty whoop-ass.

It's such a stupid and transparent rhetorical dodge that only a liberal could be arrogant enough to think it could possibly work.

As always I am reminded of the perceptive quote from Douglas Adams Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: "You're a clever man. But you assume that because you are clever everyone else must be stupid."
