This is a old lefty hit on McCain, but it underscores the basic dishonesty of the guy.
"Straight Talk" is merely code for "I will screw over the Republicans with relish and give them the 'Straight Talk' that they're wrong and I'm going to make sure they'll lose."
It does not mean "I'll always tell the truth, no matter how it might hurt me." Because when John McCain's personal fortunes are on the line, "Straight Talk" acquires a Stretch Armstrong bendy/flexible nature.
Pay special attention to his early predictions of a quick and painless war in Iraq -- and his later statements that of course he always knew the war would be long and painful.
George Bush didn't sell us a quick and easy war. McCain did. And worse, his ego is so outsized he won't confess his error on this. He simply claims he knew it all along -- making his previous statements, what? Certainly not Straight Talk.
