It's Official: Thompson's Statement Announcing Withdrawal Sent To MSM, Bloggers

So says Marc Ambinder.

I wanted to get this up in a hurry, so I haven't had time to confirm this -- but Ambinder was the one who reported, possibly erroneously, that "sources" close to Thompson had him dropping out earlier, didn't he?

Be that as it may, Carl Cameron is also reporting this, and he says Thompson has personally already informed his campaign HQ of the decision.

The announcement, Cameron says, will either come tonight or tomorrow.

Over the Wires (No Link Yet): Thompson told his Nashville staff he was "closin' up shop and heading back home to Virginia."
