Top Khmer Rouge Leader Says He Don't Know Nuthin Bout No Slavin or Killin
That's the claim of Nuon Chea, to a Cambodian genocide tribunal who will try him for crimes against humanity.
What is the Cambodian Genocide Program? Sigh. It's money. Which is why the stamp of the UN is on it.
I don't care. A million and a half victims of this bastard deserve their justice.
He does not claim he was simply following orders, as others before him. No, his claim is loftier than that. He was so high up in the chain of command, where he was once designated "Brother No. 2", he simply had no idea those following the leadership were committing such atrocities in their name.
Below the radar.
He was too high up to know.
Well, except that in 1975, after the Khmer Rouge took power, he took control of a prison known for brutal torture of dissidents, and murder.
Most have heard of the "Killing Fields", but the phrase doesn't really convey the reality of history. Solzhenitsyn exposed it to the world, in The Gulag Archipelago, the truth of the Soviet economy. When you have no real capital except human capital, that's all you have to burn.
And so you enslave millions, and you burn them up, and their progeny, to sustain your economy.
It's all you have. This is what happened in Cambodia. The fields that fed the rest of the nation were worked by the enemies of the state, and the poor who were caught in the wheels of the machine.
That's raw communism.
This bastard tore and used up the lives of untold thousands of innocents. There is no punishment that fits the crime, his crime is so vast, and so awful.
Burning in hell will be getting off light.
