TNR's Source For Retraction-Story "Denial" Is Same Guy Who Previously Called Beauchamp A Fabricator and Liar
I had this in an update, but it's too precious.
TNR has never lowered itself to quoting army sources expressly denying Beauchamp's lurid tales in the past. Even when PAO's were on record as denying them, TNR didn't see fit to mention them. Not a one. Radio silence.
Well, they finally found an army official they were willing to quote -- the one guy who does not expressly deny or confirm anything, but merely says he's not talking about it with anyone.
In fact-- this guy Lamb who now says just that he doesn't know anything about the retraction has in fact previously opined on the investigation-- he said Beauchamp's stories were false.
But TNR doesn't quote him on that, of course.
As My Pet Jawa notes, Scott Beauchamp's strongest character witness at this point is the same guy calling him a God-damnable liar.
That's not so good.
So-- does TNR believe this man when he says he's heard nothing about a retraction, and yet calls him a liar when he says Beauchamp's stories were fictions?
Nuance.
Nuance ain't gonna get help you out of this one, TNR.
As a friend of mine used to say in Hearts when it was clear he was shooting the moon and there was not a thing on earth anyone can do to stop him:
"You boys are in a lot of trouble."
