Max Blumenthal, Unreliable Smear Merchant (Not That There's Anything Wrong With That!)

As anyone who reads this blog knows, since Matt Sanchez said boo about the story they have dropped virtually all other avenues of argument in favor of repeating, constantly, that Matt Sanchez is alleged to have been in gay porn.

So this has been over every right-leaning blog discussing this story, as lefties have dredged it up again and again and often linked leftwing blogs about this.

Max Blumenthal, of course, rushed to join the fag-bash. But he had even more. Here's what he claimed about a whistleblower at TNR:

After a little Googling, I found that “Throbert McGee” (seen here embracing his “longtime sidekick Juan”) once kept a “blinkin’ blog” where he posted about “Faggot fixer-upper wallpaper” and linked to the overtly racist right-wing blog, “Little Green Footballs.” On the forum of another conservative blog, Throbert commented favorably about Matt Sanchez’s “11″ Monster Cock.” Throbert also used this forum as his platform to attack Beauchamp and leak information to conservative bloggers about Beauchamp’s private life.

He also called him a "Web Weirdo" right in the headline.

Let's unpack these claims and see how they correlate with reality.

"Embracing his longtime sidekick Juan:" Obviously an attempt to claim he's queer. What relevance this could possibly have, I'm not sure. But, to Blumenthal, this is the sexual Rosetta stone of the case. I'll avoid linking the picture he links to establish Throbert's alleged homosexuality, as I'm not really looking to push his picture into the public, but it has his "sidekick" Juan with his arm around Throbert at a bar. I guess you could read gayness into this, if you wanted to, and Max Blumenthal definitely wants to.

"where he posted about “Faggot fixer-upper wallpaper” :" Ummm... well, we don't know he posted about this because it was a group blog, one blogger being gay, as shown here, commenting on his favorite gay movies and noting he doesn't like to support movies just because they flatter gays. So, we don't know who posted the link to the "Faggot fixer-upper wallpaper;" might have been the gay dude, and gay dudes are allowed to say "faggot" (damn their special rules).

I should also note that the fake article this leads to has a fucking hilarious Onion-style headline (and by "Onion-style," I mean the Onion back when it was funny).

In fact, I kinda suspect it is an Onion article, but I'll have to see what this guy has to say about that.

"Throbert commented favorably about Matt Sanchez' 11" Monster Cock:" Oh, did he, Maxie? Did he really?

After someone links, inevitably, a leftwing blog once again dredging up the Matt Sanchez gay porn claim (which includes the reference to this not-terribly-large "monster" chicken he apparently keeps as a pet; aren't most chickens bigger than 11'? Maybe he meant feet), Throbert just says:

I like the fact that the keyword "labels" attached to the blogspot entry -- clicking on one will bring up other posts with that keyword -- include Ann Coulter, Bill O' Reilly, and 11" Monster Cock.

(Sadly, this is so far the only post on the blog to mention 11" Monster Cocks.)

This is commenting favorably on 11" supposedly-outsized chickens? Um, it seems to me he was making the age-old joke on the internet where people giggle about what strange terms lead to their sites.

As far as I know, the "private life" he speaks of is merely Beauchamp's marriage to a TNR staffer, which Franklin Foer asserts is relevant, as he himself claims that that marriage caused him to believe more in Beauchamp's reliability. (Correction: I initially said he "never" attacked Beauchamp on anything more than the dubiousness of his claims and never outed any information about Beauchamp besides his marriage, which Foer himself claims adds to his credibility. But the fact is I don't know every single post he's written, and so I can't claim that.)

So, there's Max Blumenthal for you. Now in Daddy's career of nasty and entirely dishonest smears, working for a bunch of nasty sites in Daddy-Got-Me jobs.

What a lyin' bitch.

And how homophobic! If Blumenthal's smear is taken to be true, we establish that Throbert is gay.

And this means... what? He's a congenital liar? What?

Blumenthal calls him a "Web Werido." Based, it seems, on Blumenthal's shabbily-dishonest attempts to paint him as gay, and nothing more. (Oh -- except he did link to and post on LGF.)

Is he gay? I have no idea. But I think I'd need more than the fact he calls someone his "sidekick" and notes he now is getting hits off gay-sounding keywords.

So the question must be asked of Maxie "Little Sydney" Blumenthal:

If being gay makes one dishonest, does being dishonest make one gay?

Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

And: If Throbert's credibility is at risk because he's gay, what do we make of Scottie "Three Queens" Beauchamp?

HuffPo Daddy-Got-Me "columnist" Max Blumenthal now calls all gays posting on the internet "Web Weirdos."

But they're all above incivility and bigotry, you know. Such things are for conservatives.

I Guess I Should Note... That John Cole of Balloon-Juice is also pushing the Matt Sanchez thing, but seriously, who the hell reads him?

I mean, besides Jeff Emmanuel at RedState.

Pretty much most of the lefty bloggers are pushing this.

There's a fine line between clever and homophobe, I guess. Lots of nuance.
