The Drudge Revolution Marks Ninth Anniversary
Nine years ago -- can it possibly have been so long ago? -- a website I had never heard of before (a coworker had to explain it to me, saying it was a one-man scandal-sheet that seemed particularly obsessed with the weather) ran this headline:
NEWSWEEK KILLS STORY ON WHITE HOUSE INTERN. BLOCKBUSTER REPORT: 23-YEAR OLD, FORMER WHITE HOUSE INTERN, SEX RELATIONSHIP WITH PRESIDENT
Gerald Van der Leun notes in the comments:
Yes, but only because CBS, NBC, ABC, The New York Times, the LA Times, CNN and MsNBC and about ten thousand other papers were busy sucking on the Democratic gas pipe.
...but that's the point, isn't it? The important thing is that Drudge gate-crashed the all-mighty gate-keepers of information.
