Damn: Liberal New Jersey Supreme Court Doesn't Have To Issue Gay-Marriage Ruling Before Elections
Oh dear. Influence Peddler notes that liberals are about to spring an October Surprise upon themselves.
The very, very liberal New Jersey Supreme Court -- proud former stomping grounds of William Brennan -- is expected to hand down a pro-gay-marriage any day now.
The Influence Peddler thinks this is as good as gift-wrapping the election for Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey.
The trouble is: the judge can continue "working on" (i.e., delaying for political effect) the opinion until after the elections.
Which seems the prudent, and dishonest, course of action which will be taken.
Kausfiles notes that if the court does hand down its opinion (which it won't -- remember, dishonesty is key for pushing policies on a hostile public in a democracy) it could well have effects outside of New Jersey.
Strangely, the media is silent on this.
Yes, very strangely.
