Michael Steele Slavishly Supports The Republican Party?
I ignored this all day. It seemed stupid to me. But then, I hadn't read the whole story. I just knew that Steny Hoyer had said someone "slavishly" supported something or other.
To the extent I was animated to post earlier, I was going to write, "How stupid. What a farce. Let's not descend to their level."
I was going to write -- I swear -- that it's wrong to go uber-politically-correct unless there's some reason to suspect someone deliberately used a racially-charged word with a racially-tinged intent.
B ut--
Reading the story in full, there does in fact seem to be the "racially-tinged intent" that I think is a prerequisite to making this charge. Every black Republican -- every one -- is mocked at some point by the left as being an "Unlce Tom" or "House Negro." Serving their white masters, etc.
And Steny Hoyer says Michael Steele "slavishly" supports the Republican Party?
It may just have been a slip of the tongue. "Slavishly" is a useful enough word.
But given the Democrats' history with punsihing blacks who dare to question their Liberal White Beneficence, it certainly can be taken as a deliberate and cowardly insinuation.
Steny Hoyer has "apologized." Fine. His message is out there though, isn't it? Michael Steele remains a slave who hasn't yet thrown off his shackles.
Worked out nicely for him. Of course, he won't be taken to task for the comment in the MSM, which makes it a cost-free "gaffe."
