'Santa Clause 3' Is Tracking BIGGER Than Hyped 'Borat'; Both Head-To-Head Nov. 3

So let me see if I can wrap my mind around this shock. The third installment of a wildy-successful family franchise (and family franchises tend to be big box office generally) is actually tracking better than the "hyped" Borat film, which is, you know, a cult film. (If it's lucky.)

Star of Santa Clause 3: Tim Allen, who everyone knows, and also Martin Short, who most people know as the weird dude from Father of the Bride

Star of Borat: Sasha Baron Cohen, who is beloved by literally thousands

I'm not saying Cohen isn't funny, and I don't doubt I'd enjoy the Borat film more myself.

But come on. Who does this surprise, really? This rates a Drudge headline? I have to read Nikki Finke's site to know that a huge Hollywood release with a proven trackrecord and big built-in family audience is going to sell more tickets than a low-budget movie based on a cult comedy act?

Slow news day, it seems.
