Shock: Lesbians' Brains And Sexual Response Similar To Those of Straight Men
You're kidding, right?
Lesbians’ brains react differently to sex hormones than those of heterosexual women.
An earlier study of gay men also showed their brain response was different from straight men — an even stronger difference than has now been found in lesbians.
Lesbians’ brains reacted somewhat, though not completely, like those of heterosexual men, a team of Swedish researchers said in Tuesday’s edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
A year ago, the same group reported findings for gay men that showed their brain response to hormones was similar to that of heterosexual women.
So, let me get this straight.
Gay men, who attracted to men, have similar sexual responses in their brains as straight women, who are also attracted to men, and lesbian women, who are attracted to women, have responses similar to straight men, who are also attracted to women.
Could these similarities also account for the fact that straight women love, love, love gay men, and straight men love, love, love lesbians?
We need science to answer these difficult questions for us.
In related news, a team of Swedish time-wasters/goldbrickers/scientists have determined that people who really like Brussel sprouts share similar interactions between their taste buds and pleasure receptors.
How lame is this "science"? While real scientists are figuring out how to make a usable antimatter fuel, behavioral (ahem) scientists are proving that people who like the same things may, in fact, be alike.
Here's a question worth answering: Straight women love gay men, and gay men love them back, but lesbians tend (generally) to hate straight men?
How can we bridge these differences? A lesbian-straight guy alliance would be unstoppable. We'd spend all day working with power tools and all night at the strip clubs.
Thanks to Craig.
