I Can't Believe I'm Linking This
1, it's about Colbert. 2, it's by Ana Marie Cox.
But it's a good piece. It's about the bullying and lock-step nature of the lefty blogs, and their rather immense lack of proportion, in 1, deeming Steven Colbert's comedy routine to be, in one blog-commenter's view, "a work of staggering genius that could only be pulled off by a man with testicles the size of Alpha Centauri," and 2, excortiating anyone who dares to disagree with this Politburo-endorsed line.
This is perhaps the most absurd "controversy" I've ever witnessed. The left should be deeply ashamed of itself. Not because of their nasty behavior -- that's par for the course, and there's no shaming them out of that -- but for investing emotionally so much in something that is so friggin' trivial.
It's lunacy.
November 2002: William Kristol, hearing the crazy chatter coming from the left after the Republicans' midterm victory, declares "They're talking themselves into insanity. Bush has driven them crazy."
The first diagnosis that I remember. And their stability has deteriorated since then.
More... The Politics of Anger over at the American Thinker.
They've gone so far they're not even bothering to deny it anymore. One lefty, defending Ana Marie Cox, had to present his Bush Derrangement Syndrome credentials so as to not be mistaken for a Right Wing Collaborationist, stating "I hate Bush as much as is possible on an out-patient basis." Yes, of course that's a bit of a joke, but jokes communicate truths.
Thanks to GWynn for that.
